Minor checks
Thats it? You’ve put your skis away! The kayaks will soon be out but before launching yourself into new aquatic adventures a few checks are necessary after several months of inactivity for your faithful boat. You will then be able to set off in complete confidence and safety. This list is not exhaustive because it depends on what type of boat you have (Sit-on-top, Sea, single or two seater...).
First carry out a visual check of all the hull and deck, then ensure that all the bolts are correctly tightened and that the positions of any braces are still suitable (yes, at the end of the winter, your are sometimes a little tighter in your jeans).
For sea kayaks with a rudder, all the “steering gear” must be checked, the fitting out must also receive your attention because, depending on your use, distress rockets may be necessary (expiry date).
For Sit-on-Tops, the inspection can, in principle, be limited to a general glance over the boat, because there is very little on board equipment
